Catrike Manufacturer

Maker of great tadpole trikes (two wheels in front), including the Expedition 559 which I ride.  (My first Catrike was an Expedition, on which I rode 18,000 miles).  The 559 is very similar in design but with somewhat upgraded components, a little more comfortable seating and ease of exiting, and it is foldablle.

Mike’s Bike Shop in Palatine, Illinois  (northern suburb of Chicago)

Wayne at Mike’s shop did an important emergency repair on my Catrike 559 (The Orange Flash).  I had folded it and stuffed in the back of our SUV for the drive Florida to Chicago.  In that act, I manage to break, literally break, the rear derailleur,  including the unique hanger, and bent the chain.  I discovered this at 4:30 p.m. on the afternoon before our scheduled departure from Buckingham Fountain.  I raced to the bike shop and Wayne very very graciously fit me in and hustled to get me on the road before his closing at 6 p.m..  He did not have a hanger to replace my bent one so he straightened as much as he dared, as it is cast aluminum and could easily crack.  It was not a perfect set up, but it was manageable, and the best that could be done without the needed part, and it got me to St. Louis.  So I will always be grateful to Wayne and this bike shop.
